Let’s Keep it Simple

You have enough going on. It’s our goal to make temporarily closing your account a quick and painless process.

That being said, in today’s world, it can be easy to assume that a technology-based company like Payex has a quick and automated solution for everything we do. While that would be amazing, on the contrary, some things happen behind the scenes to manage your merchant account (such as issuing refunds and account updates) that are processed one at a time by a real, live human being.

We’re hopeful that our transparency leads to a clear understanding of the criteria in place to close your account, and ensures that we’re on the same page so your expectations are met.

A couple of quick housekeeping items.

As a reminder, you will:

  • be unable to process any transactions while your account is closed; and
  • want to provide us with at least 7 days notice to reopen your account


And, we will:

  • waive the standard $20 seasonal-closure fee once; however
  • not rebate any portion of fees from last month
  • close your account within 14 days; and
  • prorate any monthly fees incurred during the time your account is open for the month
  • automatically re-open your account 90-days after closure, unless we hear from you sooner

If you are uncertain as to when you may reopen your business, requesting a rebate may be the better option. However, if you know your business is going to be closed for the next 30 – 60+ days, a seasonal closure could be the perfect solution for you.
